This week we are taking a look at three schools using CampusBird for game day technology at their football stadiums. Many of our partners use virtual tours and 360° photo and video to highlight their stadiums and other athletic facilities. Whether it is for recruitment, navigation, or making real-time information accessible by mobile, interactive maps and virtual tours are extremely useful when it comes to the hustle and bustle of gameday.
Mississippi State University
Mississippi State University, home to the Division One Bulldogs, uses CampusBird technology to display the Davis Wade Football Stadium, located in the city of Starkville. This stadium, originally built in 1914 and newly renovated in 2014, holds over 61,000 people. While viewing their campus map, visitors can drag the streetview icon to select areas within the stadium for three different 360° views of the entire stadium. This is a great recruitment feature for schools like MSU that want to share their surreal game day experience.
Arizona State University was awarded the inaugural Best Game Day Technology Experience Award. In addition to the 360° views of the Division 1 Sun Devils stadium, the university provides a detailed map dedicated to game day parking, complete with live updates on space availability. Visitors can easily find open parking, handicap accessible parking, reserved lots, and pathways to the stadium entrances. (See photos below).
Home to the oldest U.S. College Football stadium, Georgia tech uses a combination of virtual mapping and icons to help users navigate their sports facilities. Visitors can select the Bobby Dodd Stadium pin on the campus map to access a slideshow of photo highlights, including panoramic photos. Furthermore, the map provides a layer of locations for game day parking, marked by football icons.
Virtual tours, 360° photos, live data feeds and other interactive mapping features allow prospective students, student-athletes, and visitors to easily navigate and explore football stadiums and athletic facilities. These mapping tools also help to mitigate the notorious stresses of college gameday. By easing the process of parking and wayfinding, both campus staff and visitors benefit as interactive maps and game day layers help to answer several questions that the football fans may have.
