We offer a text-only version of the map to help schools comply with 508 compliance. Does CampusBird support virtual reality?

The CampusBird maps are 3D models built by our in-house team. Why does this matter?

Because regardless of the size of a school or institution, with a few modifications and some time, every CampusBird client receives a map that can be VR ready.

This isn’t just a couple of VR-ready 360 degree photospheres stuck together that can’t be updated without a major overhaul (and the costs that come along with it).

It means our clients get a full 3D model of their campus that can be used to create a fully immersive VR experience today, or down the road.

When will my CampusBird map be completed?

A mapping project typically takes 4-8 weeks from handshake to map launch. But depending on the scope of the project, we’ve done it in much shorter timeframes.

The project involves:

  1. Customization of your map instance with logos and colors, creating user accounts, training users, and adding locations and descriptions to the map
  2. Professional service projects (e.g., 3D overlays) which are completed in parallel.

In terms of client-side personnel needed to launch a map, we only need your team to guide map colors and send existing content such as photos, links to YouTube/Vimeo videos, and building descriptions to enrich the map content. We also need support from your web team to create an iframe and paste embed code for the map.

Why is a CampusBird interactive map better than a Google Map?

Highlight the Campus Experience for Prospective Students and Faculty: For schools vying for the best candidate pool, a rich website experience is important for visitors’ exposure to the school. That’s why schools like Duke and Harvard utilize CampusBird maps to reinforce their brand—to highlight their campus and give prospective students and faculty a feel for what the environment is like.

Greater Coverage: Google maps may not provide detailed information for your area or campus. Some schools in rural areas or on private land may have limited coverage.

Control Over Information: Google maps include crowd-sourced data that may be updated and changed at any time. CampusBird provides tools and layers to control the presentation so that you can tell your story with your pictures, text, and videos.

Track what visitors are interested in: With CampusBird, you can utilize your existing Google Analytics ID to track what prospects are most interested in on your interactive map.

Where is CampusBird hosted?

CampusBird is hosted in the cloud with Amazon Web Services.
